ST. MARTIN (ST MAARTEN*) - (See West Indies, French or *Netherlands Antilles.)

ST. PIERRE - Passport or proof of U.S. citizenship and official photo ID sufficient for tourist/business stays of up to 2 weeks. (Stays from 2 weeks to 3 months require a valid *passport.) SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES - Proof of U.S. citizenship, photo ID, and onward/return ticket and/or proof of sufficient funds required for tourist stay up to 6 months. AIDS test required for persons seeking residency permits; U.S. tests results accepted. SAMOA - *Passport and onward/return ticket required. Visa not required for stay up to 30 days. SAN MARINO - *Passport required. Visa not required for tourist stay up to 90 days. For additional information, contact the nearest Honorary Consulate of the Republic of San Marino: Washington, D.C. SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE - *Passport and visa required. Tourist visas for single entry of up to 3 months ($35) or multiple entry of up to 6 months ($40) and business visas for single entry of up to 3 months ($45) or multiple entry of up to 6 months ($50) require 1 application form, 1 photo, and letter stating purpose of travel. Fees are to be paid by money order only. Company letter is required for a business visa. Enclose prepaid envelope or postage for return of passport by FedEx service. SAUDI ARABIA - *Passport and visa required. (Tourist visas are not available for travel to Saudi Arabia.) Transit visa valid 72 hours, requires onward/return ticket, 1 application form, no fee. Business visa, for a stay not to exceed 30 days, requires $54 fee (money order only), 1 application form, 1 photo, company letter stating purpose of visit, invitation from Foreign Ministry in Saudi Arabia and SASE for return of passport by mail. Medical report, including AIDS test, required for work permits; U.S. test sometimes accepted. SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO - (See Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.)

SEYCHELLES - *Passport, onward/return ticket and proof of sufficient funds required. Visa issued upon arrival for stay up to 1 month, no charge, extendible up to 1 year. Medical exam, including AIDS test, performed upon arrival for work permits; U.S. test not accepted. SIERRA LEONE - *Passport and visa required. Single-entry visa valid 3 months, requires 1 application form, 1 photo, return/ onward ticket, proof of financial support from bank or employer and $45 fee (money order only). Multiple-entry visa requires a $90 fee. Business visa also require a letter of invitation from a company in Sierra Leone and a profile of the company in the USA that the traveler is representing. SINGAPORE - *Passport, proof of sufficient funds for stay, and onward/return ticket required. Visa not required for tourist/ business stay up to 3 months. SLOVAK REPUBLIC - *Passport required. Visa not required for a stay of up to 30 days. AIDS test required for long term visas; U.S. test is not accepted. SLOVENIA -*Passport required. Visa not required for business/ tourist stay of up to 90 days. For longer stays (e.g. employment, students) a temporary residence permit must be obtained before traveling. SOLOMON ISLANDS - *Passport, onward/return ticket and proof of sufficient funds required. Visitor permit issued on arrival for stay up to 2 months in a 1-year period. SOUTH AFRICA - *Passport, onward/return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds required. Tourist or business visa not required for stay up to 90 days. AIDS test required for all mine workers (irrespective of position); U.S. test sometimes accepted. SRI LANKA - *Passport, onward/return ticket and proof of sufficient funds ($30 per day) required. Tourist visa not required for stay up to 30 days (extendible in Sri Lanka). For business travel, visa required and must be obtained in advance. Business visa valid 30 days, requires 1 application form, 2 photos, a company letter, a letter from sponsoring agency in Sri Lanka and employing company in U.S., a copy of an onward/ return ticket, and $45 fee. Include $9 postage for return of passport by registered mail. SUDAN - *Passport and visa required. Visa must be obtained in advance and visas are only issued at the Consulate General in New York. Transit visa valid up to 7 days, requires $50 fee (cash or money order), onward/return ticket and visa for next destination, if appropriate. Tourist/business visa for single entry up to 1 month (extendible), requires $50 fee, 1 application form, 2 photos, proof of sufficient funds for stay and SASE for return passport. Business visa requires company letter stating purpose of visit and invitation from Sudanese officials. Visas not granted to passports showing Israeli visas. Allow 4 weeks for processing. SURINAME - *Passport, visa and onward/return ticket required. Multiple-entry visa requires 2 application forms, 2 photos and appropriate fee. Business visa requires company letter explaining purpose of trip, name of institution to be visited and its address and telephone number in Suriname, and expected duration of visit. Processing fee: $45 (money order only). For return of passport by mail, include $10 for registered mail, or $18 for Express Mail (money order only), or enclose SASE. Allow 10 working days for processing. SWAZILAND - *Passport required. Visa not required for stay up to 60 days. Temporary residence permit available in Mbabane for longer stay. Visitors must report to immigration authorities or police station within 48 hours unless lodging in a hotel. SWEDEN - *Passport required. Visa not required for a stay up to 90 days (90 day period begins when entering Schengen area: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). SYRIA - *Passport and visa required. Obtain visa in advance. Single-entry visas valid for 3 months, require 2 application forms, 2 photos (signed), and $61 fee (payment must be money order only). Enclose SASE with appropriate postage (not metered stamps for certified mail) for return of passport by mail. AIDS test required for anyone staying over 15 days; U.S. test sometimes accepted.
